In Memoriam: MOCA (1993–2026)
Today we mark the passing of MOCA, a technology that helped shape warehouse management for more than three decades.
Born in 1993, MOCA (Modular Open Communications Architecture) was never just a scripting and integration platform. It was a philosophy: that businesses should be able to adapt their systems as quickly as they could imagine improvements. Its mission was simple: remove the barriers between inspiration and execution.
For years, MOCA empowered customers to customize workflows, build integrations, and extend warehouse capabilities in ways that were revolutionary for its time. It became a cornerstone of countless Blue Yonder, JDA, and RedPrairie implementations, enabling flexibility long before "low-code" and "AI-assisted development" became industry buzzwords.
With Blue Yonder moving away from MOCA in favor of other approaches, an important chapter in warehouse technology comes to a close.
Yet this is not a story of loss. The ideas that made MOCA great—speed, flexibility, enablement, and innovation—live on in next-generation platforms, AI-powered development tools, and modern warehouse architectures.
